A small charity needs small acts of help.
We have no paid staff and no office. Most of our work happens between two or three people at a kitchen table, an open ledger, and the village. If any of the roles below sit lightly with you, we would be glad of you.

The Listening Visitor.
Commitment: Tue or Thu afternoons · 14.00–16.00 · once a fortnight, year-round.
Location: within the former Parish of Llanwrthwl.
Team lead: Jennifer Thomas, trustee.
Drop in on one neighbour with a cup of tea. Listen for what isn’t being said. If you think we should know something — a heating bill, a hospital appointment, a family in difficulty — let a trustee know in confidence. You don’t carry any duty of action. The trustees do that.
We provide a short orientation over coffee at the village hall and pair you with a trustee for your first two visits.
The Tea-and-Form Helper.
Commitment: Sat mornings · 10.00–12.00 · once a month, October to March.
Location: Llanwrthwl Village Hall.
Team lead: Sharon Morris, trustee.
Sit alongside someone applying for Pension Credit, Council Tax support, or a Caer Llan grant. You don’t need to know the answers — only to keep the kettle on and the paperwork in the right pile. Powys Citizens Advice provides us with a short briefing pack twice a year for benefits questions.
Open Trustee Seat.
Commitment: four quarterly meetings · 19.00–20.30 · plus one or two short on-call decisions a year.
Location: Llanwrthwl Village Hall.
Team lead: Robert Lewis, chair.
A seat opens roughly every three to four years. You must live within the former Parish of Llanwrthwl. No previous trustee experience is needed — only steady judgement, discretion, and a willingness to put names on a list and stand by your part of the decision. The role is unpaid. Reasonable travel within the parish is reimbursed.
The Charity Commission’s ‘Essential Trustee’ guide (CC3) is your starting point. We will lend you a copy. We will also lend you a chair at the table for the first meeting.
Get in touch.
Write a short note below. There is no application form. A trustee will write back within five working days.
Not ready to volunteer? A small donation also helps.
A £15 gift covers the stationery for a quarter. A £40 gift covers the village hall hire fees for a year.
